I decided to try this one out despite those who gave it only 3-star rating. I always check out the 3-star reviews because that is where you generally will find the honest truth about any product. But NOT this time.The primary complaint of the 3-star folks is that the threaded hole in the base is not deep enough. I'm here to tell you that it is exactly as deep as the threaded hole you will find in the base of any Nikon SLR camera. There is nothing wrong with the hole, the threads, or the depth of the hole.If you mount this cell phone holder (which works well with just about any cell phone case also, by the way) on the shoe of a quality camera tripod, you will be very satisfied with what you bought.The reason is that quality tripods are designed to hold any camera firmly in place regardless of the depth of the mounting hole. You screw in the screw mount on the tripod as far as it will go into the hole in the cell phone holder. Don't bother to tighten it. Just screw it in until it stops. Then you spin the tightener nut up against the bottom of the tripod shoe and tighten that. It will hold your cell phone mount firmly, there will be no slip, no play to either side, and your phone will stay pointed where you point it.I strongly suspect the folks who gave this cell phone mount a 3-star rating were using it to mount the cell phone on a selfie stick or some really cheap tripod that's not truly fit to mount a camera, a cell phone, or anything else.The tightening nut is the key to a firm mount on any camera tripod. And it doesn't really look like a nut because it's meant to be hand-tightened. No tools required.So get a quality tripod, buy this cell phone mount, and have a great time for years and years.
